Guatemala Discovery is an 11 day small group adventure through organized hotels, local activities, local guides and local transport. Explore Antigua, Lake Atitlan and San Jorge La Laguna, climb Pacaya Volcano, enjoy Semuc Champey, visit the Mayan temples of Tikal and finish with Rio Dulce.

Arrival day and transfer
Your driver meets you at La Aurora International Airport or your Guatemala City hotel and transfers you to Antigua. Settle in and enjoy the colonial atmosphere beneath the surrounding volcanoes.

Day 2GuatemalaAntigua - Pacaya Volcano - Lake Atitlan
Volcano trek and highland transfer
Start with pickup from your hotel or hostel and travel to the base of Pacaya Volcano. Walk with a local guide for around two hours through lava-field scenery, then return to Antigua and continue toward Panajachel on Lake Atitlan.

Day 3Lake AtitlanPanajachel - San Jorge La Laguna
Lake villages and Mayan home stay
At 09:00 AM take a shared boat activity across Lake Atitlan to visit Mayan communities such as San Juan La Laguna and San Pedro La Laguna. Later return to Panajachel and continue to San Jorge La Laguna for a family home stay experience.

Day 4HighlandsPanajachel - Chichicastenango - Antigua
Traditional market day
At 8:00 AM travel from San Jorge La Laguna to Chichicastenango Market, one of Guatemala's largest traditional markets. Spend time shopping, bargaining and meeting local Mayan sellers before returning to Antigua.

Day 5GuatemalaAntigua - Lanquin - Semuc Champey
Travel into the central highlands
Transfer from your Antigua hotel toward Lanquin, the gateway area for Semuc Champey. This is a full travel day by shared transport with technical stops along the way.

Day 6Semuc ChampeyLanquin - Kanba caves & Semuc Champey
Caves, river and natural pools
Meet your local guide at the hotel reception for a full day around Kanba Caves and Semuc Champey. Explore the cave area, then relax in the crystal natural pools surrounded by tropical forest.

Day 7PetenLanquin - Semuc Champey - Flores
Travel to Flores
Leave Lanquin by shared van and travel north toward Flores in the Peten region. This is a long travel day with technical stops before arriving near Lake Peten Itza.

Day 8Maya WorldFlores - Tikal Park experience
Ancient temples in the jungle
Your driver meets you at the hotel for an early transfer to Tikal Park. Arrive early for the jungle atmosphere, wildlife sounds and Mayan temple experience before returning to Flores.

Day 9Caribbean GuatemalaFlores - Rio Dulce
Road to the river
At 06:00 AM ride by shared minivan from Flores to Rio Dulce. Arrive near the river and use the rest of the day to relax at your hotel or explore the waterfront area.

Day 10Rio DulceRio Dulce to Livingston by own
Free day and optional river journey
Free day in Rio Dulce. Optional activities include taking a boat to visit Livingston, which can be coordinated with your package tour leader.

Final transfer
Take the shared minivan ride from Rio Dulce back to Antigua as the final transfer of the trip. Arrive in Antigua and continue with your onward plans.
